Memorable Italian adventures are made through language, culture, cuisine, art, music and more.Â Camps are available for children ages 3 – to 12 – years-old.Â Â Â Camps are tailored to the age and language experience of the children; although, no prior Italian language experience is necessary.

Italian Renaissance Art Camp:
We are excited to offer our first ever Italian Renaissance Art Camp! Over three days â€“ August 14, 15, and 16 – this camp will explore perspective drawing and portraiture through the 14th-16th centuries. This camp will include a fascinating journey through one of the most amazing artistic periods in Italian culture and history. The camp is geared to ages 5 â€“ 10 and will include fascinating instruction and discussion as well as plenty of hands on art with drawing and paint focusing on perspective. Jean-Claire Baarspul received her Bachelorâ€™s degree in Fine Art from Azusa Pacific University. She is a member of the National Art Education Association and currently teaches art privately for a group of homeschool families in the Portland area. She is passionate about helping young artists enjoy the creative process as well as providing them with the tools and techniques to grow confident in their abilities.
Michela Navarria was born in Switzerland and is a native Italian speaker. She graduated with a degree in Arts, Music and Theatre studies at the University of Bologna (Italy) in 2014, with a specific interest in pedagogy and entertainment. She finds pure inspiration in children with their creativity and genuine passion for the arts.
The Joy of Cooking (La Gioia della Cucina):Â Let Maestra Pina take your child on culinary journey through Italy. Together the class will make traditional dishes such as Milanese risotto and gnocchi from Sorrento as they explore various regions. Of course, no Italian cooking camp is complete without making Napoletana pizza and the classic torta della nonna. This yearâ€™s camp offers an expanded age range from 4 – to 12 â€“ years old that will allow the older chefs to become â€œpiccolo maestriâ€ and partner with the younger chefs. Activities sprinkled throughout the camp include walking excursions to local sites and picnics in the park!

Mediterranean Fit Climbing Camp (Evviva la dieta Mediterranea con il climbing):
Scuola Italiana is partnering with Planet Graniteâ€™s to offer an action-packed, full-day summer camp.
Days begin at Scuola Italiana with Maestra Pina.Â Campers will cook nutritious, Italian food that will gear them up for their afternoon climb. They will learn basic Italian vocabulary related to the body and movement through playful activities. Â All the while campers experience Italian culture. Outdoor activities include excursions to local sites and lots of Italian games.
At 1:00 pm, after your little â€œAlpanistaâ€ has carbed up with a â€œdeliziosoâ€ bowl of pasta, Maestra Pina will escort children one block away to Planet Granite. There, campers will enjoy afternoons exploring all the gym has to offer including bouldering walls, learning high-roped climbing and playing lots of exciting climbing games.
Drop off at Scuola Italiana and pick up at Planet Granite.

Camps are held Monday through Friday at Friendly House in the Pearl, 1542 NW 14th Ave Portland, OR 97209.Â Camps are available for children ages 3- to 12- years-old.
All campsÂ include an awesome, one-of-a-kind camp t-shirt designedÂ by the winner of our annual summer camp t-shirt contest (contest details coming soon!).Â Â Full payment is required prior to the start of camp.Â Â Please have your child bring a lunch and snacksÂ each day.

Scuola Italiana does require a minimum of four registered campers to hold a summer camp.
